Therapy / Counseling

Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy, is what most people think about when they see a therapist is like. Therapy has many different theoretical approaches based on the needs of the client(s), whether it is individual, relationship, family, or group-based.

I primarily offer Individual therapy. My framework utilizes more Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative, Transactional Analysis, Brief-Solution Focus, Strength-Based, and Polyvagal Theory.  I am trained in several other modalities, but I adapt my therapy approach to the needs of my client.

Sex Therapy

Sex therapy is talk therapy with the focus on sexuality, gender, relationships, expressions, dysfunctions, etc... In sex therapy, we only TALK. Nudity or sexual acts DO NOT occur in sessions, and video/photos are NOT asked for, needed, or required.

One framework that I learned from my training and now incorporate into all of my therapy styles is called the PLISSIT model by Dr. Jack S. Annon.

Supervision

Becoming a therapist, or pursuing some specializations, does not just happen because we got a degree or passed a test. It is a trade and skill that needs to be honed and practiced with someone who has been at it for a while to help people handle the newest, outside-of-the-book learning. I can tell you what the books say should happen does not always happen that way.

Licensure: Georgia only

I offer supervision for Georgia therapists seeking licensure as a Professional Counselor. Per Georgia Licensure Board Rule - 135-5-.01(a)(5)(iv) - I earned and maintain the privilege of having a Certified Professional Counseling Supervisor (CPCS) credential.  This is a requirement for any new licensing professional who does not hold a license in professional counseling or mental health counseling recognized by the Georgia Licensing Board for Professional Counselors, Social Workers, & Marriage and Family Therapists.

I do not offer Licensure supervision in any other State or Country at this time.

Sex Therapy: AASECT Counselors and Therapists

Sex therapy certification by AASECT requires extensive training and supervision over a course of a minimum of 18 months.

Consultation

Consultation should be a backbone as part of our roles and responsibilities as professionals. Consultation provides an opportunity to gain experience with techniques or specializations we are not exposed to in our regular professional practice.

I provide two types of consultation: individual or group. This can be a one-time or a regular monthly meeting.
